To check folder sizes do the following:

  • Go to “This PC” by clicking the start menu and click the icon. Alternatively type it into the search bar, or press the (Windows Key + E)


  • Right click on the folder you want to analyse. E.g. “My Documents”, select properties.


The size will be displayed.



  • Double click the folder, e.g. “documents”. Along the top you can find the size tab. Left click that tab, it will sort your files by size. Delete or transfer and large files e.g. (20MB+)



  • Right click the folder you want to delete. And select ‘delete’.



  • Select “Yes” to move folders to the recycle bin.



  • Open your recycle bin by double clicking the desktop icon, or search recycle bin via the taskbar.



  • Double check you haven’t deleted anything important. Only if you are 100% sure you want to delete these items. Press Ctrl + A to highlight all files you wish to delete. Note you can restore any files you accidentally sent to the recycle bin, you cannot restore once deleted from the recycle bin.



  • To restore right click the individual file and press restore.
  • To delete right click in the blue highlighted section and press delete.
